I'd Pick You

Forgive me if I'm teary
I'm not really sad or blue
It's just a special mommy thing
That all of us mommies do!

Today my baby looked at me
As we snuggled before bed
She placed her hand upon my face
And such sweet things she said!

"If I could pick just one friend
To last my whole life through
I know just who that friend would be
Mommy I'd pick you!"

It made me think of our Father
Who from His throne above
Looks down upon His children
With such compassion and such love.

Even though we're sometimes careless
And don't do what we should do
I can almost hear Him saying
"My child, I have chosen you."

I designed you before the world was made
And knew exactly who you would be
Before the clouds rolled in the sky
And before I formed each sea.

I know that you fail sometimes
And don't always follow through
But never forget that you are mine
For I have chosen you.

You felt that nudging in your spirit
That bade you come to me
And you became a child of mine
For all eternity.
