Yum! Gum!

Yum! Gum!

Now gum is so delicious
And so much fun to chew
But there is something ugly
That gum can do to you!

Gum can stick on your shoes
And hold you to the floor
Until you promise under your breath
That you will chew no more!

Gum can get on notebooks
If it isn't thrown away
Or make your homework an ugly mess
(What will your teacher say!?)

But the worst thing gum can do to you
And I thought I 'd better share
Is the horrible mess your gum can make
If it gets into your hair!!

Then your mom will take action
Like you never saw before
And there's no use in even running
She won't let you out the door!

She will do the strangest things
That will make it even worse
Things so very yucky
They won't fit into this verse!

Peanut butter comes to mind
And Petrol jelly is another
If a neighbor hasn't thought of it
It will be thought of by your mother!

Ice was really not so bad
Alto I thought my head was freezin'
Mom only took the ice cubes off
When I started sneezin'.

So mind your manners boys and girls
And obey the Golden Rule
Do as your mom and teachers say
And don't chew gum in school!

And when you get home at night
Please throw your gum away.
Don't try to place it on the bedpost
To save for another day!


Your mom knows best in this regard
Don't place it near your bed
'Cause when morning comes again
You will have a gummy head!!
