You can "Smash" your own books

I didn't know I was creating "Smash" books...just recycling. LOL Fun things to use are inexpensive cook books and hobby books in 3 ring binders from places like Costco. Any bound pretty calendars from past years. Paste over things and leave dates with cool things to remember as they are. Nothing books and I've made my own personalized Nothing Books with Blurb.com. Old novels or old books with pretty cover but subject uninteresting or outdated. Old textbooks from college. Have friends sign some of the pages.

A Memorial Day Thank You

Thank you to each one
Who has a husband, wife,daughter or son
Fighting in a land across the sea
To provide freedom for you and me.
Thank you to those who serve
In our own land or far away.
Thank you from our hearts
On this somber celebration day.
Thank you to those who fought long ago
For the freedoms we sometimes take so casually
Those who gave their lives while still so young
To keep this nation free.
Thank you to those who were husbands and dads
Those who were daughters, moms and wives,
Who so long ago in our history on foreign soil
Gave that ultimate sacrifice...their life.
Thank you to each sweetheart
Who kissed their loved one goodbye,
And who must everyday watch anxiously
And try not to worry and cry.
Thank you to each mother
Of daughter or of son
Who sent them off when duty called,
And considered it a sacred one
Thank you to grandparents
Who had to watch those they love so much
Go off to fight in a foreign land,
And who long for just one more touch.
Thank you to the parents who taught their children
That our nation deserves their loyalty,
And the dedication and sometimes sacrifice,
If we are going to remain brave and free.
And thank you to God above us
Who watches over us and loves us,
And gave us the land that we adore,
A land with freedom worth fighting for.
Pray to God that our flagWill today and always proudly wave
Over our America, land of the free,
Our beloved America,Home of the Brave!

Sometimes Moms Graduate

 

Sometimes moms work in offices

Or even fly a plane

Some moms might be plumbers

And open up clogged drains

While sometimes they go back to school

To exercise their brains

And sometimes moms graduate

And everyone can see

That they went back to school

And got their degree!

Congratulations to You, Mom!
You have finished the task
You did it on your own
And for no favors did you ask.
You took care of us at home
Even as you burned the midnight oil
And we knew if we needed you
We just had to call.
You are an example
Of all I desire to be

No go out and celebrate-

For those Older Graduates from College

Senior  Seniors

 

Congratulations! You did it

And it wasn’t always easy

Sometimes the very thought of class

Made you a bit queasy!

But you hung in there

With all of those youngsters

And tried your very best

To follow all those directions

And pass all of those tests.

Now you stand before your kids

In your cap and gown, proud as can be

For your graduation is an honor

And a major victory!

For the families of those

Who would have graduated today.

Each milestone after the loss

Of someone we hold dear

Seems not to go away

But lingers year after year.

Some families have empty seats

at high school graduations

And no limos picked up their teens for prom

But the memories of these dates

And what should have been

Keeps lingering on and on.

Our hearts hurt for them

And we don’t know what to do

Except, Father, to lift them up to you.

Please wrap your arms around them

And with you love surround them

Not only on this day

But the whole year though

For no one loves us more

I went out in the middle of the night
And I saw such a silly sight
I saw a duck wearing boots
