Too Old to Hold
Mom I 'm seven now
And I'm much to old to hold!
What all the fellas will say
You don't want to know!
I really love you Mom
And I know you like to gush,
But I'm really much too old
For all those hugs and mush!
Mom, I'm 13 now and I'm much too old kiss
I don't want to make you think
That I am being inconsiderate
Or that I love you any less!
But I have my friends to think of
And what they think of me
And they would tease and taunt me
If they should happen to see!
Mom, I'm off to collage now
And I guess it will be just fine
If you want to give me a hug
In the reception line!
I don't mind a little kiss
Placed upon my cheeck
Heck, my new girlfriend
Thinks that's rather sweet!
Mom, this letter is to tell you
That the Navy isn't too bad
I think of all of you each day
Especially you and Dad.
I long for the touch of home
Especially your loving embrace
I miss your hug around my neck
And the sweetness of your face.
Mom, I think that you should know
That of all the things I miss
More than any other
Is your gentle good night kiss.
