LOSER

I did this a couple of years ago when I first retired and entered HoF for the first time. I have had lots more experience in losing since then.....in fact, I've lost every major contest at least once, and most of them twice.......I have not met my 7 or 8 year dream (how long has the mag been around) of getting into CK but I have survived and thrived in other areas.

I'm posting this to inspire others who might feel "Undiscovered". Some of us will look at the title and see "Loser" first while others will see "Undiscovered"......Deep huh?

** I should add that my "loser" layouts were featured in another magazine ...as were my next year's loser layouts for the same contest. To be honest, they really were a better fit for that magazine and I was thrilled, my family was thrilled, and the local Barnes and Noble where I bought upteen copies was thrilled! I will always have an extreme loyalty and soft spot in my heart for that magazine.....which by the way does a special digital issue each year....:-)

Sometimes in all areas of life,  we must let go of the "good" to receive the "best" for us. It would be wonderful to win the contest, but perhaps then I would not have concentrated as much on the writing which only months into my retirement resulted in a book deal and two books of poetry within a one year period.

Be encouraged, be consistent, be happy, be grateful and be yourself! Your day will come! You just have to recognize it when it does!

Just Another HoHum Day

Just another beautiful day in Coronado. It is hard to say that I don't want to go for my daily walk when I have scenery like this awaiting me. I love taking my camera and snapping what the day looks like. I always keep in the back of my mind that it could all change...in an instant...

There Will Always Be Good Ole Days.........

Tonight we were talking of friends we chatted with only months ago and how they have moved on in their busy lives and we miss them. Six months ago we did not know that those would be the "good ole days" that we would miss today.

That is the way it is in all of life..........scrap today, this year, month, moment for all too soon you will look back upon some part of it as the good ole days.

The Hurriedier I Go.......

The behinder I get!! I worked on four (count 'em) FOUR books this weekend and for the last two days. I'm trying to learn Publisher which is so much more efficient than doing them in Word but I'm learning it the hard way.......no books are included when one buys Publisher.........awck......I miss the good old days when things had manuals in the package. AND when you didn't have to call India to get Microsoft support for something only to be told that because you bought the product at Comp USA, it was a cheaper version and you have to pay 30 dollars to ask a question........but that's a different blog......:-)

I had a nice weekend and had fun working on the books...at least three of which I hope will be out in time for Memory Trends! This is so exciting. It's hard not to be able to share on the message boards. I love sharing exciting things with my cyber buddies! I wish we could!

So, today I finished getting the most difficult one put into Publisher format and just have to go back and tweak it. I love being retired but I may have to go back to work to get some rest!!!

Ode to Today's Earthquake

I'm so tired of all the shaking

A vacation I'm taking!
I'm going to the east coast
And visit people far away

From Heaven to My Child

I had a dream that from Heaven

Now I've Done It!

How in the world did I mess up my type!!! All of a sudden it is huge? If you know what I did, how I did it or how to undo it........help would be appreciated.

Dedicated to Digital....

Who could have forseen ten years ago that digital would be at the place where it is today! ME! ME!! I loved it from the instant I got my hands on that first computer, printer and scanner; I knew it when I got my first little digital camera, when I got Adobe Photoshop four and a huge Adobe manual that looked like 2 Sears catalgos bound  together and when I got my laptop.........Fortunately, I am not the type of person to say I told you so....but if I were... this would be the perfect time to do it..:-)

I smile today when I see new digital scrappers try to do every effect on one page. BTDT and got the digital tee shirt. The thing with digital is that you kind of mellow over time and settle into your style. If, like me, you are a simple scrapper, you tend to do simple digital pages with a bit of flair when you are feeling artsy or feisty. It's always there if you want to add a bit more zing, but if you want the basics....ah, it is fun and easy and looks nice.

When I first started out, I was tempted to do things just because I could and put people in strange places or morph them into something else, etc. But now, I love being able to correct my photos, create my embellishments and backgrounds and do things that I think enhance the layout.

Sometimes I do like to have a bit of fun and clone my face onto a better body, or give my hubby a full head of hair again. I might also add that I am guilty of digitally cleaning my house (only to be in shock when I walk back into the room and realize it is clean only in my computer.

I love digital and enjoy it. I am probably getting left behind as the newcomers who are younger and brighter and more talented appear daily but I still enjoy it and I'm still dedicated to digital!
