Prayer Sometimes we get caught up In feeling eloquence is needed to pray That our fluency in our expression Might prove our aptness for a worthy prayer Thinking somehow that God listens To see if we have that flair. And that otherwise God might not hear The simple prayers we need to pray If there isn’t an elegant flow of persuasiveness In the words we choose to say. But sometimes I’ve had an urgent matter That I needed to speak to God about And in my time of such distress “Help” is the only word that would come out. Thena
You buy a new area rug, it makes the floors look bad, you put in new floors and the furniture looks bad, buy new furniture but first you have to repaint and the new paint makes the drapes look bad and the new drapes show from the outside so the outside of the house has to be repainted and the new looking house makes the car look tacky so you need a new car...this is why one should never buy a new area rug!!! LOL
You could disrupt the entire neighborhood and cause a wild spending spree!
What were you doing that day? Were the children off to school Or outdoors to play? What were the last words You heard your loved ones say?
What was on your calendar for the day? And what errands had you planned to run? And what did you do; What did you have to leave undone?
Those of you who have survived this awful And heart wrenching tragedy no doubt Have done some serious thinking about your future And what your life is all about.
It has happened to so many of us That sudden change in life’s priorities and goal When a sudden catastrophic illness or event Takes things out of our control.
Though this magnitude of pain and loss Suffered by our dear friends across the sea May not have been in our experience It affects everyone we see.
To see the tears that stain the faces Of those on the TV screen each day Puts our hearts in pain for you And our minds at a loss for words to say.
We think of the questions not to interrogate or accuse But because these are things we could face too. It reminds us that any one of us could be In the same situation that in your country we see.
It is the humanity in us and our alikeness That poses these words that we say For it could have been any one of us dear friends That set about not even imagining the trauma of the day. Thena
Prayer for Japan
Dear God in Heaven up above God of Mercy, God of Love We lift up our neighbor and our friend And ask that your angels you would send To help this country whose needs you know To go where humans cannot go To rescue those who are trying to do Things only done by a chosen few. They risk their lives and know it's so To go where most humans dare not go. What heroes they have bred in that city Who ask not for our country's pity. But that if we can help in any way We would send that help today. Remind all your children. Lord to pray.
