A New Day

Our God is an Awesome God!

Doesn't that make you want to sing?  Sometimes I have so many thoughts going through my mind after the service on Sunday morning but when I try to put those thoughts into words later, I can't remember what I wanted to share. I guess I need to go back to taking notes.

Just this week God brought a wonderful Christian family back into our lives from 30 years ago. I try to think back to what we must have imagined our lives would be like 30 years down the road, but I don't rmember thinking that far ahead. We had little kids and were young families involved in taking care of life at the moment. We had not lost all of our parents at that age and now we are the oldest ones in the family for the most part.

Life moves quickly and God keeps us through it all.

There is Power in a Smile

Have you ever been having a really bad day when suddenly someone smiles at  you and you find that you feel better? Have you ever seen a child in tears whose face lights up when you extend your arms and smile?

There is a lot of power in a smile!

It Takes So Little Time to be Kind

There is so much sadness and unkindness in the world today. One person can make a difference in a lot of lives by just taking the time to be kind.

I used to listen to him on the radio on the way to work and he spoke about "getting on the Bible bus" each day. He told the story of a young girl who fell out of bed one night and when her mom asked why, she replied "I guess I stayed too close to where I got in!" That is the way it is with our Christian walk...sometimes we don't grow and change because we stay too close to where we got in!

I awoke this morning with a prayer

I awoke this morning with a prayer
Asking God to keep you in His care
Wrap His arms around you today
Sending all sadness far away.

As I awoke I felt a tear
That slipped down my face as I could hear
The little whisper in my heart
That knows you hurt, even when we are apart.

But then God showed me
How by His love and grace
He would keep you in His embrace
And wipe the tears from off your face.

And then I heard a little song
That had been there all along
A song God has placed in your spirit
Ready to cheer you whenever you need to hear it.

God knows that you have had a sadness
And knows that your heart is broken
But there is comfort to be found
In every Word God has spoken.

God loves you and is with you
And He will see you through
This time of loss and sorrow
And He never will leave you.

Just reach out to Him for comfort
And know that He is there
You never have to search for Him
He's as close as the whisper of a prayer.

Encourage Someone Today

Anyone can put someone down
Cause them to cry
Or make them frown
But it takes a special person to know
Just how to help someone to grow
With a bit of praise
And a helping hand
When a friend is too tired to stand.
Anyone can roll their eyes
Behind someone else's back
And talk about all the things
That that person may lack.
But it takes a kind heart
And a spirit that is gentle
To offer the wisdom needed
For things fundamental.
So take this little verse to heart
And in your own unique way
Make a special effort
To encourage someone today.

Jesus loves me! This I know,

Though my steps are getting slow
And my hair is thin on top

With graying locks on head and brow

Sometimes I gripe and may complain

Trivial things may get me down

There is no more sting in them.

Looking back at the years I've had
Though at times I have been sad
So thankful I am day to day
That He was with me all the way.

Each night I say a little prayer
Thanking Jesus for his care
And His love for me Sublime
I share with every friend of mine.

Yes, Jesus Loves Me
I know Jesus Loves me
And someday He'll take me by the hand
And lead me to that Promised Land.
